If it breathes, kill it.

"It is a thrill. It's just hardcore, it pulls no punches, it's scary, it's ultra-violent..."

"You know, when you see someone's head blowing off and when you see the game brought to life in that kind of way, you kinda get what we're striving to achieve."
"It's relentless. It doesn't let go. It just really grabs you by the nuts."
- Karl Urban - the Doom guy
Something has gone wrong at a remote scientific research station on Mars. All research has ceased. Communication has failed. And the messages that do get through are less than comforting. It's a level 5 quarantine and the only souls allowed in or out are the Rapid Response Tactical Squad - hardened Space Marines armed to the teeth with enough firepower to neutralize the enemy... or so they think

5 weeks at #1 - 16 weeks on chart

In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war
but it wasn't
It was different in many ways, as so were those that did the fighting
In World War II the average age of the combat soldier was 2
In Vietnam he was 19
In inininininin Vietnam he was 19
In inininininin Vietnam he was 19
In inininininin Vietnam he was 19
n n n n nineteen

The shooting and fighting of the past two weeks continued today
25 miles north-west of Saigon
I wasn't really sure what was going on

Nininini Nineteen, 19, Ni-nineteen 19
19,19,19,19

In Vietnam the combat soldier typically served a twelve month tour of duty
But was exposed to hostile fire almost everyday
Ninininininininininin 19 nininininninin 19
Ninininininininininin 19 nininininninin 19

In Saigon a U.S military spokesman said today more than 700 enemy troops
Were killed last week in that sensitive border area
Throughout all of South Vietnam the enemy lost a total 2689 soldiers

All those who remember the war
They won't forget what they've seen
Destruction of men in their prime
Whose average was 19

According to a Veteran's Administration study
Half of the Vietnam combat veterans suffered from what Psychiatrists call
Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder
Many vets complain of alienation, rage, or guilt
Some succumb to suicidal thoughts
Eight to Ten years after coming home almost eight hundred thousand men
Are still fighting the Vietnam War

None of them received a heroes welcome

Doom made me motion sick, so I stopped playing it. Fast forward about 7 or 8 years, and I started playing Halo. Frickin thing still made me motion sick, but I persevered and conquered that mo-fo. OK, so I played it with you guys, and to be honest, you guys probably carried me for most of the way (while I trembled in the corner out of sheer terror that the convenant was going to get me - goddamnit, it's scary in parts).

Maybe I should have just stuck to Civilisation. Now, that was a good game..... bloody thing cost me at least 2 semesters at university though.

Hello, my name is Melissa and I am a gaming nerd.

And in doom/halo/even civilisation it's sooo easy to sneak up on you and shoot you in the back of the head.
