An elderly woman is fighting for her life after being struck by a skateboarder in Sydney's CBD yesterday. The 65-year-old Norwegian national, who was walking with her husband along George Street, was knocked over by a young man riding on the footpath near the intersection of Grosvenor Street about 4pm, police said. The rider stopped to inquire about the woman's wellbeing before skateboarding away, they said. The couple caught a taxi to their inner-city hotel but the woman's health deteriorated and she was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where she underwent surgery for head injuries. She remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Police are appealing for witnesses and examining CCTV footage to try to identify the skateboarder. He was described as being of white/European appearance, 18-20 years of age, 180-185 centimetres tall, with a thin build and light brown hair. He was wearing a red T-shirt, long pants and a grey baseball cap.
