In a ruling that could elate local teenagers, a judge declared this week that "mooning" is legal in the state of Maryland.
Mooning is popular among teenagers travelling in cars, but the case in question involved a 44-year-old man who mooned his neighbour and her eight-year old daughter. The neighbour brought the complaint. "If exposure of half of the buttock constituted indecent exposure, any woman wearing a thong at the beach … would be guilty," Judge John Debelius said.
Though calling the practice disgusting, he ruled that it did not constitute indecent exposure. However, he indicated, the trial might have ended differently had the defendant been on trial for "being a jerk". - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
